India D(h)on(i)’t dig going Dutch

India made just one change to their playing eleven – Munaf Patel made way for Ashish Nehra. The Netherlands made ten changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Feiko Kloppenburg, Daan van Bunge, Henk-Jan Mol, Tim de Leede, Luuk van Troost, Reinout Scholte, Roland Lefebvre, Edgar Schiferli, Jeroen Smits and Adeel Raja made way for Eric Szwarczynski, Wesley Barresi, Tom Cooper, Ryan ten Doeschate, Alexei Kervezee, Tom de Grooth, Peter Borren (who was leading the team), Bradley Kruger, Mudassar Bukhari and Pieter Seelaar.

On winning the toss, Borren, chose to bat. Szwarczynski faced 42 balls, scoring 28. His innings included four boundaries. Ninety-two balls into the match, Piyush Chawla broke the 56-run stand. Barresi, who faced 58 balls, scored 26. His innings included a couple of boundaries. Twenty-two balls later, Yuvraj Singh, the player of the match, trapped him leg before wicket, breaking the eight-run stand.

Ten Doeschate, who faced 28 balls, scored 11. His innings included a boundary. Fifty-six balls later, he was caught by Zaheer Khan. Yuvraj broke the 35-run stand. Cooper, who faced 47 balls, scored 29. Five balls later, he was caught by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s captain. Ashish Nehra broke the one-run stand.

Bas Zuiderent, who faced six balls, did not open his account. Eleven balls later, Khan trapped him leg before wicket, breaking the one-run stand. De Grooth faced 11 balls, scoring five. Twenty balls later, Chawla and Dhoni were in seventh heaven, because they ran him out.

Virender Sehwag, who faced 26 balls, scored 39. His innings included five boundaries and two sixes. Forty-five balls into the chase, he was caught by Kervezee. Seelaar broke the 69-run stand. Tendulkar faced 22 balls, scoring 27. HiS(ach)innings included six boundaries. Ten balls later, he was caught by Kruger. Seelaar broke the 11-run stand.

Pathan, who faced 10 balls, scored 11. His innings included a boundary and a six. Four balls later, he was caught by Seelaar, who broke the two-run stand. Kohli, who faced 20 balls, scored 12. His innings included a couple of boundaries. Twenty-eight balls later, Borren broke the 17-run stand.

Gautam Gambhir scored 28. His run-a-ball innings included three boundaries. Fifty-two balls later, Bukhari broke the 40-run stand. Yuvraj, who faced 73 balls, scored 51. The Dutch conceded four extras. India, who scored 191 for the loss of five wickets off 36.3 overs, won by five wickets with 81 balls to spare. Cooper, who bowled two overs, conceded 11. He was wicketless, as were Kruger (who bowled 3.3 overs, conceding 23) and ten Doeschate (who bowled seven overs, conceding 38).

Bukhari bowled six overs, including a maiden. He conceded 33, picking up a wicket. Borren, who bowled eight overs, conceded 33. He picked up a wicket. Seelaar bowled 10 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 53, picking up three scalps.
